You will find a magical forest path in Haliburton, Ontario at Glebe Park, called the “Haliburton Sculpture Forest”. Totally unexpected unique carvings and metal artworks are scattered through an easily walkable 1.4 km path. Highly recommended!

So I picked up this giant maple leaf today on my forest walk. It’s Canada 🇨🇦 perfect. It is the mish mash quilt of all the people who make up our stunning country. All the colours and influences unified in one palette. We are #canadastrong and every day I am more proud of what we stand on guard for.

Went apple picking today with the family. All of us are adults now but acted like kids, between the rows of juicy goodness. They looked like dressed Christmas topiaries. Gala and McIntosh were ready this week, but each week it’s another variety. Nothing says Fall like apples. 🍎

I should not be able to get this close to a water bomber. There is a fire 🔥 a few km from our home across the lake in the Kawarthas. Every place on earth is hot as hades or is on fire. 🔥 It all feels very apocalyptic.

CP24 says air quality is 10.5 on a 10 scale-meaning terrible,with warnings to stay indoors. We are in the Kawarthas and it rolled in yesterday. Heart goes out to people who have to relocate. Climate change is everybody’s problem and those insulting letters sent by US lawmakers makes my brain smoke.

Buddy the elf does. Once the power went out at my nursing station and were unable to use the computers.Half the staff had never filled out a paper chart. It’s like they never saw a pencil before. We had to walk them through how to fill out a form by hand. Yes it’s still a thing. I’m not thaaat old.

Oh no you didnnd… yes and sorry Tod, we did screech in new years in Toronto 😉. It was to honor our kind east folk. Which for the record we did visit. As for Nanaimo bars? Imitation is the highest form of flattery- maybe. Can we have a Nanaimo party next new years in your honor?? We won’t bake.

We thought it might be too young as it could barely hop in the grass in the blazing heat so we built a mini condo and attached to same tree as nest and mama robin has fed it all day in the new house. Hopefully it will be strong enough tomorrow to hop out again .
