Where to find historical censuses for free?
FreeCen.org.uk has UK and Ireland transcripts from 1841-1911. The 1881 census and images are free to view on FindMyPast. You can also see transcripts for UK and international census on FamilySearch.org

FreeBMD lets you search birth, marriage and death registration indexes in England and Wales from 1837. From September 1911 onwards, you’ll also see the mother’s maiden name for births. And it really is free!
