100% ! The first election I could vote in was 2000, age 18. Watching the election get stolen, then 9/11, then everything that followed - I’ve been steeped in the failures of 🇺🇸a leaders my entire adult life. This elder millennial is both cynical and hopeful for what can be better in the future.

There was just a gathering of over 300 archivists in Minneapolis, also discussing the fate of democracy (and how we’re documenting it and saving the records). No CNN in sight!

Your advice to "try shit" and "just do something" has led to 1) an activist support group that helps each other through the efforts we're each doing in our communities, and 2) I'm teaching groups how to grow/produce/preserve their own food. These efforts make a huge impact on my own state of mind.

This is NOT any kind of justification for her behavior that day, don't get me wrong. The hate is so evident on her face. But her subsequent work in learning, changing her mind, and speaking for social justice in the years following is the kind of guilt-motivated change that she SHOULD feel.
