I wouldn’t say I’m “into” MTG yet, but in high school I had a couple different friends show me the game. It didn’t grab me then.
Fast forward to 2023 and they do the LOTR collab and I was SO CLOSE to getting into it, but I let it pass.
Now in 2025 they released The Last Airbender. They got me now.

wtf I just went 3-0 at my Avatar the Last Airbender MTG pre-release. I haven’t played #MTG in 15+ years.

Stoked I don’t have to wait deep into preview season to find out Dedra’s abilities!
The design feels very thematic(especially to the art), where she gives you a choice, give her what she wants(more info/cards), or you’ll be in pain(deals 2 damage to a unit).

I love cards like this. They make me puzzle solve the ways this can be as strong as possible. All of them usually include having Eeth out on 4R. Really cool card here.
Avar's entire design started with her deploy condition. There was some concern it was too complex to track or too difficult to achieve, but the sense of achievement every time was memorable. So we made sure her leader action was simple & compelling, and gave her as many stats as we could #FFGStaff
