After an 11-win football season capped off by a bowl win, this has been an amazing stretch to be an ISU athletics fan.
What a dominant showing in Ames by Iowa State. 15-1 for the first time in school history after beating KU 74-57. And here's a stunner: 5-0 in league play for only the second time ever (1943-44).
Only loss this season is to the No. 1 team: Auburn, in Maui, by two, after blowing a huge lead.

It may make me less of a fan, but I've learned to have zero expectations for the Vikings in big games and have gotten less and less emotionally invested over the years.
The team has done little to justify suffering heartbreaking losses whenever stakes are high. So many other ways to spend my time.

Dropping the division and bye is a gut punch and makes a title run significantly harder.
