I started these socks last Christmas when my older sister nearly died of sepsis in her foot. Of course the needles fell out in all the turmoil and I’m almost back to beginning them again. Socks are fun

Canadian Thanksgiving dinner in a layered crustless pie of all the familiar flavours. Turkey onions, mushrooms sausage, carrots, mashed potato and squash, with a topping of seasoned bread crumbs. Each layer precooked the day before and then cooked together for 1 1/2 hrs before serving

The geese are heading south, no border control or ICE agents to face. Of course there are hunters.

Flowers beds and pots glorious shades of pinks and purples with splashed of yellow. I love our garden in mid July. Despite the recent drought, it’s still glowing.

I’ve been studying Greek now for a two years on Duolingo, but I still can’t have a conversation. Any advice on online courses which include speaking. Jumpspeak is the only one I can find with Greek but the reviews aren’t great.

This graffiti was on the cubicle wall in the women’s washroom at a homeless drop-in centre at Bridge St. Church in Belleville ON. It moved me to tears

I saw pots like this in the Knossos museum in Herakleon Crete. It seems they the potter’s wheel and a kiln are nearly as old as fire and the wheel. Their pots dated back to 2000 years BC or older. So good there is no copyright on pots

This remnant of the 4000 year old Knossos palace in Crete reminds me of the rise and fall of great civilizations and the destructive powers of autocratic uncollected autocratic kings. These people could have made it to the stars but lIcarus’s wings melted. We now are watching our civilization fall

There is an ancient peace gazing out over harbour at Charnia Crete. We could be touring, we could be shopping but a cup of Cretan herbal tea and a cream croissant is all that is needed to find calm in troubled world

Our hotel in Heraklion Crete has everything in WR codes. The menu is the code on the table. WTF? I know it’s a great way to have your menu in multiple languages but I don’t speak QR codes and my phone wants my Apple password to download the app. It blocked me for an hour on my attempt to change ps

Excellent Knossos tour. We opted for the downloadable tour on our phone. That was dead in the water when I had to download two apps to set it up and it asked for my Apple ps after it had taken my payment. And refused to accept. We paid for a tour guide and she knew SO much. Great tour Aritza

There is a step too far in tech in our bedroom there is a QR code for ordering room service. There is a QR code on the mural behind the bed. ???? The in house resto and bar only has a QR code no menu. I don’t do QR codes. I would have to download the app, avoid the paywall, remember my password No!!

I’m headed down to the harbour in Poros on a quest to find the taverna that serves Masticha, a unique Greek cocktail of pine sap liqueur, fruit juice and crushed ice topped with a basil leaf. I’ve been looking every day since we got here.
