I don’t know, man. I see you’re on a list here of people incapable of critical thought *and* troll list makers *and* people who pretend they are someone they are not. Ironically maybe better to leave it at this 🙄

What happens when Palantir creates a social media profiling tool for employers and law enforcement that just adds labels to your profile based on block lists you're on, losing the context of it being created by a deranged dipshit?

A bit of a lack of imagination here on how these blocklists will be abused. Why can someone harass people who have blocked them (manually) by adding them to block lists? What if the Russian Agent adds you to a block list of union organizers with 10000 fake subscribers then send it to your employer?

That differentiation is weak, all these companies use some form of social media layer for their labelling.

Also, most blocklists are made by anonymous entities, so you don't know if it's a deranged dipshit, Russian agent or American company who made it

This sounds like Situational Leadership, but rather than adapting the leadership style to team competence you adapt based on task. I don't think I love it, to be honest, but I can see at least the desire to be a bit closer to urgent/important tasks.

In my head canon, For All Mankind is the prequel to The Expanse. Different tone but I see it as a long alternative history spanning hundreds of years.

I don’t think anyone is opposed to blocking. It’s poorly curated public blocklists, with no recourse, clearly meant to name and shame, that is questionable.

I’m surprised people are so OK with it. Would you be happy if it was Meta or Cambridge Analytica who published political lists of people?

I can assure you most block list maintainers do not extend that courtesy.

It technically manifests that one-dimensional view of people that if you have a single opinion that I disagree with, I will dismiss everything about you entirely.

IMO super unhealthy

Hvis dette er åpent for alle, er mitt hot-take at det er bedre å ikke spise ute i Norge i det hele tatt, og heller spare pengene til å splørge på ferie.

What you’re burying pretty deep
here is that Amazon and Google are Anthropic’s largest investors too 🙄

Dunno, what if the US was still in the Commonwealth and had a governor from King Charles? We might have avoided a lot of hassle.

I mean if you’re going to work with someone, pick someone who doesn’t start posturing about their importance before you even heard of them. Even if they have something to offer that you want - if people lead with their leverage, maybe reconsider if they’re a good partner?

The one fresh voice I’ve heard was actually from a publisher - Akapura - who basically said that ultimately they’ll test your game and what matters to them is if it’s fun. 🤩

So far I’ve heard journalists, influencers, gov funding agencies and publishers all talk about how many thousands of studios always fight for their attention and how sky high their criteria are…. Like, ugh, who wants to work w people who come to the table with that attitude?
