I've been making things for the Internet since 1995. Solo developing web apps. Open web idealist. Nostalgic futurist, enthusiastic tourist and art lover. There will be art retweets and travel photos.
If anyone is wondering how the Australian social media ban is going: My daughter and her friends have already adapted by moving their chats to a shared Canva presentation. 😅

Sheesh, Claude Code really loves creating and maintaining documentation if you let it. This is from a single session before I told it writing .md files is banned.

This sounds like Situational Leadership, but rather than adapting the leadership style to team competence you adapt based on task. I don't think I love it, to be honest, but I can see at least the desire to be a bit closer to urgent/important tasks.

Pretty freakin' excited about this addition - travel modes. As you travel the world in Trailmarks, you have to choose how for every leg, making trade-offs between benefits and disadvantages...

Every modality shown here in this tour of Central America :) #games #gamedev

Adding an entirely new level of complexity to Trailmarks

Hey!

I'm looking for play-testers for the playable alpha of the travel and quiz game Trailmarks!

Just someone to play the game for 30 minutes or so on Zoom while I watch and ask some questions. In return, I'll give you the game for free when it launches!

Interested? DM me.

Too much or too little visual feedback? Or exactly perfect?

I wast thinking of this like the attached. The Beyond Sausage pack is a bit of a meme, but the pepernoni is from my local supermarket. Maybe it's my imagination, but I thought this was a common sentiment, and maybe something people can't verbalize directly, like an uncanny valley of food.

Damn, Upwork has literally monetized disputes in their system. I'm not sure this is the right incentivization for a platform...

It does explain why a seemingly simple contract went to a dispute almost instantly, though.

I don't know but this seems suss for a fact checker for a travel guide. #trailmarks

Sorry about this :(

My stats on BlueSky after ~1 year:

I have 1,133 followers
I'm following 2,045 people
I'm blocked by 30,796 people

I love this site and the serious people on here, but this is not sustainable metrics for an engaging social media site @mcuban.bsky.social #bluesky

It's interesting to see real numbers being shared about this.

I don't love admitting it, but I do question if this is sustainable.

In real terms, just today, my total token usage from a day of using Claude Code is 22 million tokens. Or enough water to grow 55000 small pink radishes? (wtf?)

AI came for the community theatre actors too??!!

I just put live a huge update to the public alpha of Trailmarks - probably the last time I leave it entirely open.

Please feel welcome to try it!

New:

🎼 More music
🗺️ Missions!
🌎 Lots of visual improvements
📍 Homes

Last chance to get suggestions in too!

Why is it not more normal to bring leftover hot pot soup home? This stuff would up my noodle game for weeks.

That is a really good question! I notice I have my entire read history in the app, and this is it. I don't know what made the article conclude I want a fluff piece about Justin Bieber 🤦‍♂️

That said, I bet it's because no-one is using this app. I can't imagine sticking with this past the free trial :P

I just got a free trial to Apple News+ and the first thing they do is insult me?

The write up about "my techniques" is really the cherry on top here.

A bit of wishful thinking from the media editor here, I think

Seems to be time for lunch

Sheesh, game design is hard. I can't even figure out what the competitive element or win conditions are in my game. I feel like I don't even know what a game is anymore, like if I designed chess it would just be endlessly moving pieces around. How does this come so naturally to game devs? #gamedev

Quite a feat by Cloudflare to handle an outage so well that they outperform the market

My take-away is that it's more important for the protesters to make a point about pride and heritage, than to win the fight.

It's not the Mexican flags - it's the combination of Mexican flags and burning cars and mayhem. At the very least you must admit that it's great PR material for Trump admin?
