I have a passion for traveling the US, collecting fiber from my travels (as well as knitting machines) and sharing my journeys with Richard (my partner in life) and our dogs!
I do not support violence

I do not support murder

I do not support hatred

I will not whitewash what he stood for

It is okay to feel nothing

Been traveling around the Great Lakes and look what I adopted! Meet Mabel! A twin for Madge! The MK70 is such a great machine for travel! Yes, it is a rare gem; another great choice if you can get your hands on one is the Brother KH341

Making our way around the Great Lakes. Taking time off to pick some cherries 🍒 in every color!

A peaceful day knitting after the fireworks! I had to make some adjustments to the knitting pattern as my MK70 is a 6.0 mm machine rather than a bulky. These are by special request for Ofelia! She wanted pink and purple rainbow with sparkles!

Pattern by Mary Matz!

Need to replace cam phasers on the F150, so we extended our stay in St. Ignace through mid-July for parts and repair for the toad. The UP has been staying wonderfully perfect at 67° to a balmy 75° today! Enjoyed the huge car show this past weekend and then visited the remains of the tragic

Return trip to Mackinac Island . . . this time with Abby and Lilje too! Took a carriage tour around the island! Next time, maybe we’ll rent one for Rick to drive!

Riding bikes around St. Ignace, MI today. Hot weather is expected this week with lots of rain, so getting out and about while we can!

Finally, a spectacularly beautiful day! We headed up the Canadian Soo Locks on St. Mary’s River which connect Lake Huron and Lake Superior. We’re returning again as there is a museum and site of the Edmund Fitzgerald here too!

Taking some time this weekend to get onto my knitting machines!

Overcast day, but the rains held off! Enjoyed walking around Mackinac Island. So much to see and experience that we are going to have to return a few more times! Walked up to the fort and enjoyed lunch at the Tea Room.

Another day chasing 70 (degrees) can’t beat spring weather 💐. Toured the Kraus house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Ebsworth Park.

Staying for a week in St. Louis, Mo. The weather has been in the low 70s; perfect for sightseeing. Went up into the Gateway Arch and traveled along the Mississippi river!

The snow has been falling, falling, falling here in Mammoth Lakes! The first floor is parking, so our 2nd story balcony is actually 3 stories high! Hopefully some incredible skiing tomorrow!!

Well, after blocking, I absolutely cannot get the arm portion to stretch far enough to cover enough needles for the sleeves. My 10 rows per inch somehow shrunk to 12 rows per inch, so I am frogging the entire sweater and trying again. Only 2 days of knitting invested so far, however.

Any other machine knitters using older/ vintage machines? Do you get anxiety just waiting for issues? I just keep waiting for something to go wrong with this old Studio MK70; the further and further I get with my knitting, the tighter the knots are in my stomach. So far, so good!

Amazingly, I was able to get that perfect 28 st x 40 rows (the target gauge for 4-ply) on Madge, my MK70 knitting machine. Although Madge is technically a mid gauge knitting machine, she does knit closer to a standard gauge. I’m using Rayito by Tamm. So, casting on a sweater!

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.

There’s not.

We will be hitting the road to travel the US starting the end of March. Due to high stress, generalize anxiety and increased risk of panic attacks, I am applying for a political support animal to help through this situation.

6 hours on my favorite knitting machine today without any progress. I’m in Mammoth Lakes for the winter season; humidity this morning was only 1%. A humidifier is helping, as well as a bit of oil on the ribber. However, I believe a good cleaning and oiling of the ribber is needed tomorrow.
