really don't care if you disagree with me, i think constantly filming everything everywhere is bad, i think the widespread deployment of facial recognition is bad, i think the fact there are cameras everywhere inside of arenas & that increasingly you have to use your face to buy a hot dog is bad

But to the sake of society, I'm begging for us to go back to using massive parallel compute power for mostly just drawing triangles again

I worry about the expectation of it's use in programming work (that's an entire other discussion).

I've seen new generative AI tools put to impressive but discrete purposes (XBOW comes to minds).

When I know anything about the subject in question, and read a response as wrong as that, I have a vague feeling like, "Am I experiencing a 'neurological event'?"

The form of the Wikipedia article it's cribbing from is present but the note values are obvious nonsense.

Rarely is it as wrong as the above response but it is often unhelpful just adding layers of vague language around the concept in question. As the theory example shows, there's no reasoning going on in that response. Anyone with a rudimentary musical education can see the issues in the examples

I worry about the students I work with who are clearly relying on generative AI models when they've barely grasped the basics of the subjects we're working on. I also worry about the fact the university I work for has released a chatbot to respond to student questions on class message boards.

Not much to add but want to echo what others have mentioned: the biography written by Porter is the best I've read. I wrote a comparison of a several bios of Coltrane back in undergrad and most were shockingly bad. I'll try to think if I have a rec that's more specific to your query.
