The weird thing about bravery is that if you’re doing it right, it feels like fear.

Earlier this year, ProPublica found that the sepsis rate in second-trimester pregnancy loss hospitalizations increased by more than 50% under Texas’ abortion ban.

Here’s how we did our analysis.

Texas Won’t Study How Its Abortion Ban Impacts Women, So We Did
Since Texas banned abortion, no one has studied the statewide effects on pregnant women experiencing complications. Here’s how we sifted through data on millions of pregnancy hospitalizations and anal...

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

And hospitals must (and will) continue to provide care for birthing families and newborns, but will not be paid for those deliveries, leading more to stop providing OB services, and even more gaps in care long term. Nightmare.
Medicaid covers 41% of all USA births.

Pro life party that constantly screams about "declining birth rates," won't fund universal healthcare, won't fund pre-K, won't fund child tax credit, won't fund school lunches, & now eliminates healthcare needed for 2 of every 5 babies.

This will kill people.

More than 100 Texans active in the Jan. 6 insurrection among those pardoned
A Texan was the first to breach the Capitol and many others joined the assault. The presidential pardon helps cast all of them as folk heroes.

I saw posts this morning about Meta accounts auto-following the new POTUS & VP social media accounts - I immediately unfollowed and blocked, but what do you know, I was once again following the VP insta account just now. Nope. Unfollowed/blocked again.

THREAD: In 2023, I received an envelope with no return address. Inside was a flash drive containing tens of 1000s of secret files.

It came from a vigilante with a tumultuous past, who'd conducted a years-long undercover operation. He didn’t tell the FBI or his family. He only told me.

The hypocrisy. We have all these requirements and initiatives for hospitals in Texas to help improve maternal/infant safety and quality, funded by the same state government that appears to be hiding the truth. We know we have a problem, and it’s just going to get worse without unbiased reviews.

NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all.

Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

BREAKING - Texas offers up 1400 acre piece of land for Trump’s immigrant concentration camp

Project 2025 made it clear - immigrants are to be detained first, with NO legal process at all - and held in TENT CITIES

And Trump made it clear he will deport LEGAL immigrants too
