Total scientific saturation at an epochal pace
The incredible @shufflersunite.bsky.social and i are rather accomplished academics. But, tonight, instead of being asked to cure cancer or understand the human experience we were tasked with something truly hard. "Want to draw a monster?" Id love to say these were the baby's efforts.

Technically, I think one needs to be cautious about company logos in pictures entered into the scientific literature. But, sometimes something sneaks through on a coffee mug.

Rendering of Nero's Golden House, ca 66 AD. (from the official website of the Roman Coliseum authority).

It did not survive the next regime taking over, they mostly knocked it down and reused the space for the public.

One of the times an overly hubristic individual ran a global super power.

Or this (PLO was once a terrorist group).

Oh wait, the Israeli Far Right (now in power) DID kill Yitzhak Rabin.

Congratulations to Victoria on defending her MSc!!! She is off to the distant lands of...down the hall with @simonrondeaugagne.bsky.social for her PhD where she will be doing more polymers and more sugars. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with her!

We managed to get about 70% of the group that's here at #CSC2025 out for lunch today! It was warm outside, but it was good to celebrate together.

Thanks to the AMAZING Olena Tykhoniuk...

We have our #CSC2025 self-promotion documents ready.

All edits and content are my responsibility, not hers. But still. She did the important work!

So, the HOT TICKET at #CSC2025 is highlighting how scientists are leveraging organic chemistry to break DOWN DISCLIPLINARY WALLS AND SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS.

It's our symposium. We have an all-star line-up of invited, keynote, and award-winning Superstars, plus all the accepted talks!

In these times of trouble I am returning again to The Good News. It brings comfort in hard times. And can always make a good sauce.

This is a very good album, and it is what I need today.

That ends like this though...we've all seen that movie.

No one trusts an organic chemistry lab on wheels.

Are you also a scientist whose TOC graphics are generally the LAST thing you think of when submitting an article?

Do you hate making them/asking people to do them/grabbing a student and force them to learn Blender?

I've got a new guy. He's looking for work. He just did this. DM if you want.

Oreo is the perfect sponsor for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Both have a very long tradition of being Deliciously Soft and rather tasteless.

My understanding that if flying through US airspace, the perfect airplane outfit is a flame retardant bodybag.

As so much of my follower-base is here for watching @shufflersunite.bsky.social burn me on a regular basis (I love you Dear!) I thought there might be some overlap for our jointly authored content!

Pulled this out for a few dramatic readings to subteams in the group. It's a good one. I remind myself sometimes. All of you out there in academialand? Maybe consider doing the same. You are doing great.

Can someone hand Trump a picture book of Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage?

Realized I was putting this list in our postdoc ads, but wasn't highlighting it on our website. Fixed that now.

It is inconvenient to have values. It is unconscionable to not have them. Happy to have anyone reach out either publicly or privately to join the list of fellow-traveller labs I keep.

Look, I know I'm important (I am a University Professor after all), but LinkedIn clearly thinks I have more clout than I do.

Why yes, I am solely responsible for hiring the next president of the institution.

I am not concerned about AI taking our jobs.

I think this is fair use...we'll see if CSC lets me use it as the graphic for one of my talks.

I will be at OBIO next week sharing what Binary Star can do for companies that want computer-aided drug discovery but don't have the resources to do it in-house.

If you see this post a vampire.

Most vampires don't suck the blood of the entire human race at once.

If I never see his face or hear his stupid voice again, I will be...not irritated by his face or stupid voice.
