Planning is critical to a safe exit strategy. But there are ways to plan safely that mitigate the risk to you as well as to friends and comrades should the state weaponize it’s power against you.

Colombia is definitely not one of the safest countries, but it ranks well ahead of the US and with a very low cost of living this could be a great option for remote workers. As always with any colonial country any migration should be mindful of the indigenous populations.

New Zealand has all the problems of any settler colonial state with tensions between indigenous populations & the settler class. We recommend seeking other options if you are not Maori. Politically they have taken a rightward turn in recent years and this may undo many recent liberalizing advances.

Australia could be a good option for Commonwealth citizens. Although, like any settler colonial state it has tensions between the settler class and the indigenous Aboriginal people. Trans rights are relatively secure and work is available.

Uruguay is a risky choice. Financially it is best suited to remote workers as job opportunities are few. While it has good legal protections on the books it also has a rather high homicide rater when it comes to trans people. Approach with caution.

By all reports, Austria has a thriving trans scene in the larger cities, is well connected to the rest of Europe by rail, and despite risks of right wing political movements, remains one of the better options in Europe.

Our core team is based in Berlin. There is a thriving trans scene for people of all walks of life and a deeply caring community. Köln is also reportedly positive and has many resources. Outside these two cities one can feel the rise of the extreme right wing very acutely.

While not the most expensive country in Europe, Luxembourg remains phenomenally pricey. Probably only an option with a well paying job offer. That said, the laws protecting trans people are quite good and the country itself can be quite lovely.

With rapidly rising costs of living, Ireland can be difficult for working class people. While it is politically liberalizing, the traditional catholic culture could swing in a more conservative direction like much of Europe. We are cautiously optimistic it will remain a good choice.
