At Transit Police, some of our most accomplished police officers are women, including Chief Officer Suzanne Muir. This #NationalPoliceWomanDay, we celebrate the women who demonstrate leadership, courage, intelligence and compassion as they help keep transit safe for everyone.

Today we welcomed two experienced police officers to Transit Police. Together they bring 50+ years of policing experience that will help guide our department as we grow to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding transit system.

Last weekend, a passerby noticed a dog locked in a vehicle that was parked in New Westminster. It was 22°C, but with the car in direct sunlight, the temperature inside was much higher. The dog was in obvious distress.

#DidYouKnow at Transit Police we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary as a police department later this year. But our history actually reaches back to 1890 when the British Columbia Electric Railway first employed Watchmen. They were our predecessors in keeping transit safe.

The flags at Transit Police HQ have been lowered to half-mast to honour those who lost their lives in the tragedy at the Lapu Lapu festival, and the countless others impacted. We stand with the Filipino community during this extremely difficult time.

Earlier today, we welcomed 10 new Community Safety Officers to our department. They are now sworn in and will now begin their 17 weeks of training as they embark on a new career path in law enforcement #Welcome
