"You can't build a future on a fault line"
I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

The BBC, quite consciously, sets out to demean and belittle trans people. This is both morally contemptible and in breach of its Charter obligations. We've made it super easy for you to write to the BBC and tell it to stop.

Please use - and share with your networks.

The BBC must stop attacking trans people | Good Law Project
The right wing accusations of ‘pro-trans’ bias are back to front. It’s time for the BBC to live up to its duty to be impartial on trans issues.

We don't yet have but would love to get Tyger at some point. Currently revisiting Varjak Paw with my youngest - we'll never outgrow it!

I think I need this just now :-)
Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are doing a a podcast called Pondcast where they reminisce about Doctor Who. No word on when it will become available but they’ve already recorded a few and have had Steven Moffat as a guest.

"Breaking Ranks: Inside Israel's War" seems another remarkable ITV programme in this day and age. Timely, but should be everywhere.

"Basically, Musk’s AI service has been programmed to be as much of an arsehole as he is." :-)
Elon Musk’s AI service Grok is so drunkenly, transparently biased that it would be funny – if it weren’t a mortal threat to democracy

I'd not realised my BlueSky moderation was hiding posters deemed as "rude" - glad the options are there but a strange one compared to the more serious categories...
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

An important reminder

Halloween demanded a rewatch of Doctor Who The Halloween Apocalypse, the first of the Flux story, and a reminder of how good Who can look and sound, let alone draw the viewer in for the mysteries of the story arc.

Such an important piece of writing, and should be read by everyone, whatever their situation.
What is autistic burnout like? When a computer goes into safe mode, "that would describe what happens to the brain: it runs on limited function, not all services are available, & its access to the Internet denied & unable to connect." @kieranrose.bsky.social:

An Autistic Burnout — THINKING PERSON'S GUIDE TO AUTISM
The sad truth is that so many Autistic people—kids & adults—go through autistic burnout with zero comprehension of what is happening to them.

Rewatching the modern Worzel Gummidge tonight I've realised that Mackenzie Crook could be a perfect new Doctor Who. He brought so much magic and character to Worzel, and so unlike his other roles. DO IT MC/BBC/BW! (Only realised after typing all this that he'd be the second Doctor/Gummidge hybrid)

Just brilliant by @thenerve.news - I can just imagine Stewart Lee running around on bypasses snatching flags.

Well done that man.

The longer that I'm inhabited by Stage/Fright after seeing it last night the more impressed I am. It keeps revisiting me... Superb.
Some of our best audiences so far in Birmingham - which is why we’ve added another matinee on December 4th! Come see us at the Alexandra Theatre for a pre-Christmas treat. Some great ‘local’ talent joining us too…

Deimos, the smaller of Mars's moons, is slightly bigger than Cardiff, and has an average escape velocity of around 5.7m/s: a little over 20km/h.

This is low enough that an athlete could jump off into space if they got a running start - but they couldn't, because the gravity's too low for good grip.

Utterly enjoyed watching the two episods of "Johnny Vegas: Art, ADHD and Me", after his latest Field of Dreams which covered the same period. I now feel understand a little why I've always related/appreciated him so much, despite **whatever**. And we all need a Bev.

The Borderlands (2013) is currently on Amazon Prime, and physical media (probably second hand, I’d imagine). If you’ve not seen it, do give it a go. It’s the real deal.
