If people want a stable moderate American state (and not the full fall of the evil empire that it is) then the Democrats need to finish the Reconstruction (which never held) and do a real Truth and Reconciliation process. The Dems don’t want to do that; so the GOP will always come back worse.

Don’t worry, soon they’ll try and dismiss the Greens for “not really being environmentalists any more and only caring about radical socialism”… Or the press will only ask about trans people and then start saying “why do the Greens care so much about trans issues” like they tried with Zohran and Gaza

Whenever the media talk about a general demographic (working class, young people, retirees, etc.) there is always a foundational assumption they don’t say - the white and male members of that group. Because typically only the concerns of white men are considered legitimate in politics.

You cannot have the latter without the former. A state is made up of its individual civilians. For mass violence to occur, the state has to prepare individuals to accept that violence. Look at the Rwandan genocide - neighbours killed neighbour in a slaughter, because they were prepped to accept it.

These people listened to Rush Limbaugh do celebrations on the radio any time a queer person died of AIDs. They cheer mass deportations and torture. Their entire political movement is the desire for a second civil war to go back to Jim Crow (if not fucking slavery). Fuck me if I don’t shed a tear.

The history of right wing stochastic violence is longer than my arm. Abortion clinic bombings, nazi mass shootings, lynchings of black people, killings of queer people. They don’t need an excuse to do more violence; they have always done the violence. You can’t beat fascism peacefully.

No; fascists need to get fucked and die. “It’s okay to punch a nazi” isn’t just a slogan, it’s saying that violence in the face of extermination is self defence. The right doesn’t need an excuse for their violence, they were already committing it. You can’t defeat fascism peacefully.

Your point here is that they were already planning mass violence, so “giving them a reason” is worse, somehow? The violence is here; the army is in DC, was in LA, is going to Chicago! They don’t need a reason because they have the power! Hopefully this makes them scared to be out in public.

The violence the right wing are already doing, stochastically and via the state, is already immense. They don’t need excuses or justifications, and acts like this may make them scared and piss their pants. The right wing violence is already here, and Kirk was one of its biggest proponents!

They haven’t needed justifications or excuses; Trump was already threatening to send the goddamn army into Chicago for no reason, they were already doing violence! May this make them do something in retaliation, possibly, but it could equally scare the shit out of all fascists and would be fascists.
