Pop quiz question: Trafotin is no longer getting 502 errors and is now getting 520-521 errors. According to Cloudflare's docs, it's supposedly because his nginx is server is misconfigured. Testing the nginx.conf shows that the configuration is working. What does Trafotin need to do?

Hi Trafotin, We’ll soon enable automatic dubbing on your channel. This means that YouTube will automatically generate translated audio tracks in different languages, making your content accessible to more viewers. No action is needed – we’ll enable this on your channel in the coming weeks. Once enabled, when you upload a new video, we’ll automatically add the dubbed audio to your video. Over time, we may also dub previously published videos. In some cases, we may be unable to generate the dubbed audio – you’ll be able to see the status of dubbed audio in YouTube Studio. Effective today, you can turn off automatic dubbing for your entire channel in your Channel settings > Upload defaults > Advanced settings > Automatic dubbing. Once auto dubbing is enabled for your channel, while uploading new videos, you’ll also have the option to turn off automatic dubbing for that video. Not one of my videos, but AppImages are insecure garbage and managing distro packages blow. I can get my parents to use a Flatpak but they cannot use AppImages. Doesn't sound unnecessary to me.

Update: Local node and protocol support for IPFS was deprecated in Brave as of August 22, 2024, with version 1.69.153. Less than 0.1% of users made use of this feature, and the support and maintenance costs were too high for us to bear by ourselves. Basic ipfs:// redirecting to a gateway can be accomplished via build-time configuration. You can follow along and participate in longer term plans to support IPFS with WebExtensions.

Replacing balenaEtcher with Rufus as installer for Windows 2025-02-19 by the Tails team We replaced balenaEtcher with Rufus in our installation instructions for Windows to solve privacy concerns with balenaEtcher. Since January 2019, we had been recommending balenaEtcher to install Tails from Windows and macOS. We loved the simplicity of balenaEtcher, which was really easier to use and worked on macOS as well. Shortly after, balenaEtcher started displaying ads. Although we didn't like that, we initially didn't view it as a significant privacy risk and had no better alternative at the time. However, in 2024, the situation changed: balenaEtcher started sharing the file name of the image and the model of the USB stick with the Balena company and possibly with third parties. While we have not experienced or heard of any attacks against Tails users stemming from this change, we believe it introduces potential for abuse. To eliminate that risk altogether, we started looking again for alternatives. After evaluating 7 other tools, we finally chose Rufus. We had tested Rufus many years ago, even before recommending balenaEtcher, but it was much harder to use and modified the Tails image in ways that were risky. Congratulations to Akeo Consulting, the company behind Rufus, for really improving the usability and reliability of their tool! We have not yet replaced balenaEtcher in our installation instructions for macOS because Rufus doesn't work on macOS. Also, as Tails doesn't work on Apple M1 and M2 processors, people who install Tails from macOS represent less than 10% of installations nowadays. Still, we recommend 2 alternatives for macOS: installing Tails using dd on the command line or using Raspberry Pi Imager.

Brodie who conducted the interview mentioned that Miller was the one that reached out to him. The background of this video was the currently ongoing issue regarding OBS, Bottles and the Fedora project, which Niccollo made an excellent video explaining and summarizing the situation. You can also find the article over at thelibre.news. “Impressive” as this story is, it’s for another time. What I want to talk in this post, is the outrageous, smearing and straight up slanderous statements about Flathub that the Fedora Project Leader made during the interview.. I am not directly involved with the Flathub project (A lot of my friends are), however I am a maintainer of the GNOME Flatpak Runtime, and a contributor to the Freedesktop-sdk and ElementaryOS Runtimes. I also maintain applications that get published on Flathub directly. So you can say I am someone invested in the project and that has put a lot of time into it. It was extremely frustrating to hear what would only qualify as reddit-level completely made up arguments with no base in reality coming directly from Matthew Miller.

A sad day for DivestOS and its family of apps, the privacy/security hardened fork of LineageOS, but better quit while you're ahead and tell everyone you're closing shop. Hopefully someone can pick up the niche they had, but it doesn't sound easy. Can't say I blame them.
Anniversary and Final Update¶ Notes from Tavi December marks 10 years of DivestOS! There were over 7,000 git commits created in this time. I believe the projects were highly successful in their goals, however this month will mark the end. DivestOS and its apps will not receive any further updates. Hypatia and Carrion will no longer receive database updates. The non-mobile Divested projects (eg. Brace, D-WRT, real-ucode, and DNS blocklists) will continue to be maintained. Most of our forum threads will be closed and the DivestOS XMPP chat rooms will also be turned off. Donations will no longer be accepted and all recurring donations will be cancelled. Thank you to all the users, contributors, and donors for this time. -Tavi
