Amusing myself by watching my watch altimeter while on an airplane. It's wrong of course, since it's air pressure based, and the cabin is thankfully pressurized. Apparently to the same pressure as 1731 m altitude (5700 ft).

Only half-jokingly suggest the 8 track crossing of the malibar yard in Vernon, even though it's not a passenger line. IYKYK.

Mendocino Land Trust @mendocinolandtrust.bsky.social set a goal to build 30 miles of trails in the next 3 years, at least 15 of which will be part of the Great Redwood Trail.

Mendocino county is full of great hiking and biking trails, but there are lots of gaps.

In separate news, I then got stuck at the Rio Vista bridge on CA 12 because it's closed for repairs. So I rode to Stockton and caught a Gold Runner back to Oakland.

Screenshot of Caltrans district 1 bicycle map showing bicycles are permitted. (Northern half is in another district.)

New-ish sign prohibiting bicycles at the southern end of the Antioch bridge on CA 160. This sign conflicts with all other information I've found, and the bridge has been historically open to bicycles. There's even a conflicting sign a mile earlier at the on ramp.

28 km ride to Orinda BART. The prettiest ugly station in the system. 5th lowest ridership and 2nd lowest population in the walkshed. Has a transit-oriented movie theater. 3/12 for low stress biking. #bikeallthebarts

Good place for an infill BART station. Albany between Solano and Marin.

Mental health ride to Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART. Planned to stop at Martinez, but I missed the train by 2 minutes, and it was a 2 hour gap for the next. #bikeallthebarts

Fun times. This crossing goes directly through the Malabar yard, which is where the proposed storage track would go. There's no way CPUC would approve this (rightfully!), so the crossing would need to be closed, requiring a permit and agreement from the city of Vernon.

The Final SEIR has 8 through tracks that narrow down to 4 for the viaduct, with half of those for CAHSR. It seems like some of the platforms are shorter, but it could be that the super-long (1445 ft) platform is just moved around.

There is STILL a wine NFT billboard along 101 between Ukiah and Hopland. I keep forgetting to get a photo, so this screenshot will have to do.

I can only imagine they paid 5 years in advance.

What ever happened to BART express buses?

I don't see either waste treatment facilities, electrical facilities, or really, anything industrial. So I can only assume they don't know how to civil engineer.

Also, there are big power transmission corridors through here that have... opinions.
