I couldn’t unsubscribe from Disney plus of their suspension of Jimmy Kimmel because I wasn’t subscribed. Now that they are putting him back on, do I have to subscribe? I’m not sure how the logic of consumer activism works.

By which I mean - it also happens to me. I’m the best of us.

I’m off to God’s country, where I can off the good people who believe in God by selling them the idea that they are better than other people. Getting rich off merch for viral remarks is what living in God’s country is all about.

RIP Val Kilmer. For me you’ll always be Nick, the rock star from Top Secret whose father came up with the name while he was shaving, proved he was definitely not Mel Torme by singing Tutti Frutti in a diner. I’m still looking for that album Kilmer recorded, including ‘are you lonesome tonight’

My dog Winnie is not super big into cuddling. But I bet you can create a thermometer on the basis of her inclination to cuddle - if it gets cold she’ll get snuggly all over a sudden. I bet she thinks of me like a big oven which is fair because I think of her like a big pillow. It’s called love.

Heard that #Girls5Eva series was canceled and won’t get a fourth season at @netflix.com - what a damn shame. In their honor, I’m playing all three soundtrack albums today, racking up those Apple Music plays. A toast to girls5Eva - the best things haven’t happened yet!

Grading student papers has made me a lot better detecting chatGPT generated content; one of its primary characteristics is repetition of the same phrases, word for word.

About a year ago I wrote an angry comment to my NPR station asking why are they still engaging via X if they care about journalistic integrity. I thought the comment was poorly written and didn't send it, but the sentiment was real.

The morning after the elections I was doing the dishes and watching episode 3 of The Terror - a series about two British ships stranded in the arctic. The captain of The Terror, forever Hari Seldon to me, was sounding the alarm to no avail.

I forgot to mention the worst thing about playing against these bots-masquerading-as-humans! While they couldn’t be bothered to create more human sounding names than ‘difficult_boost653’ but they did bother to make the bots wait before taking their turn… that’s right - these bots ‘sleep’!

I’ve been seeing it around recently - you look to join a multi player game, presumably with other humans and instead you get an army of bots. It’s a classic case of ‘each one in isolation but looking at them as a group exposes the shallowness of the whole business’

I like to say how ‘some of my best friends are economists’ but I didn’t need to consult them to know that tax on tips is a bad idea. Not surprisingly, NPR has a 5 minute podcast explaining in simple terms why that’s a bad idea and offering a better alternative.

Nancy Sinatra-Day Tripper
Nancy Sinatra-Day Tripper by Under the pressure of needing a new single for the Christmas market,[3] John Lennon wrote the music, including the famous guitar hook, and most of the lyrics, while Paul McCartney helped with the verses. John Lennon said: "Day trippers are people who go on a day trip, right? Usually on a ferryboat or something. But [the song] was kind of . . . you're just a weekend hippie. Get it?" The line recorded as "she's a big teaser" WAS originally written as "she's a prick teaser." These are the same Beatles that loved slipping dirty jokes in past George Martin, for instance in "Girl" they got a big kick out of singing "tit tit tit tit." Let's slow this down so people can understand... haha! The song is about a girl and girl only. It talks about a girl (aka prick teaser) who "she took me half the way there." "She only plays one night stands." and sunday driver is someone who drives annoying slow for a leisurely sunday drive... hence she wanted to go slow and wouldn't take him all the way. It took him so long to find out cause he thought she'd finally put out but never did.

As predicted, AI is making research worse. The Scopus CiteScore ranking of philosophy journals has 3 journals among the top 10 journals that are fake. They are AI generated, with fake authors, and cite each other extensively to achieve a top ranking.
