And Maton makes three! You got like a hot line to Mo's office or something? Lol

Turns out he's second out the door lol

I'll admit, I erred. His ceiling is so obviously huge but his floor was unbelievably low. I was almost certain he was gonna be another Dylan Carlso.

That being said, he's been piecing it together bit by bit in the box and looks like a completely different man in the outfield.
July 31, 2025 at 12:52 AM
One of those where you almost can't believe he was a 1st round pick. Looks completely lost in the box and seemingly doesn't have any value in the field over a generic infielder. He's everything everyone thought Walker was gonna be.
July 31, 2025 at 12:45 AM
JJ could be over on 3rd but he's more of a "when" promotion, Baez is still in the "if" category.

I'm not even gonna delve into 1B, with Contreras over there now, who knows when it'll need someone new. Maybe before the deadline tomorrow, maybe not until he retires.

When ya look down the farm:
Memphis is rotating infielders at 3rd.
Springfield has 4. Buchberger is out for the season but pretty good. Mendligner, Mendoza, and Paige will probably shake out to being like Sagesse.

So, we've only got essentially 4 in front of Baez at 3rd.
July 31, 2025 at 12:33 AM
If we can transition Baez to a fulltime 3B before he gets up here, that won't be too bad. It's becoming increasingly likely that Gorman ain't it imo and Sagesse can play 3rd but doesn't show any amazing prowess really.

There for a moment last night, looked like Matz might've been the first one out the door lol
July 30, 2025 at 11:49 PM
3 prospects in return, not bad overall
July 30, 2025 at 11:45 PM
That's my big concern. None of these guys are above High-A so, there's still plenty of time for Tommy John's and completely forgetting how to hit a baseball.

On the other hand, they don't have many guys in their top 30 prospects who are at AAA, so, maybe that's not a huge problem
July 30, 2025 at 11:30 PM
Solid "yeah probably" to "eh, could've done better"

Two of the Mets' top 15, one of which is a pitcher. Not horrid imo but definitely not the haul we could've gotten in the offseason.
July 30, 2025 at 11:25 PM
I hope so. I think the Red Sox kneecapped him bad. Whereas he and the Rays were able to do some impressive shit for $1.50 and a coupon for Cheez Whiz.

Always pisses me off that the Astros became the face of the "development" revolution while the Rays were building playoff runs with teams of DFA's.
July 25, 2025 at 3:38 AM
Oh, 100%. He got/gets unending shit about the Mookie trade but idk if I think that was entirely his call.
July 25, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Exactly. If someone comes asking, we need to hold out for like 0.5 Helsley or 1.75 Libby kinda return, I think.

Like, it's gotta be good. Almost anyone else? Whatever gets out of the door. McGreevy is hands off and Granillo is "must be a favorable deal"
July 25, 2025 at 3:09 AM
Oh, okay, then I agree with you lmfao

I think we should be a litttttle more reserved with Granillo. I think he's got the stuff to be slightly above average. So, if someone comes knocking for him, we should hold for a modest return.
July 25, 2025 at 3:03 AM
Same thing for Donnie too. It will kill me to see him in someone else's uni but if we devastate someone's farm system for the next 5 years, I'll be able to suffer the heartache lol
July 25, 2025 at 2:53 AM
I get that but also, anything short of an absolute pillaging of someone's farm system for Wynn. Like, if someone comes knocking for him, I want to see some stupid Arenado scale trade where I'm ecstatic and confused why the other team agreed.
July 25, 2025 at 2:52 AM
So many prospects. I'm just about to the point where I'm convinced we sell Helsley even if we are somehow back in contention with a sweep of the Padres.
