Wilders benoemd tot ondervoorzitter Tweede Kamer Nu Thom van Campen (VVD) is gekozen tot nieuwe Kamervoorzitter, mogen de grote fracties ondervoorzitters aandragen. Zij vervangen de voorzitter als die verhinderd is of andere bezigheden heeft. Wieke Paulusma (D66) is benoemd tot eerste ondervoorzitter, en Geert Wilders (PVV) als tweede ondervoorzitter. Dat laatste is opmerkelijk, want meestal schuiven partijen een wat minder prominent Kamerlid naar voren voor deze functie, en zeker niet de fractievoorzitter. Omdat Wilders de tweede in rij is voor de vervanging van de echte voorzitter, zal het regelmatig voorkomen dat hij debatten in de plenaire zaal leidt. In het verleden heeft hij dat ook al eens gedaan. Na de verkiezing van afgelopen dinsdag moest Wilders' fractiegenoot Martin Bosma het veld ruimen als Kamervoorzitter. Bosma zei toen al dat hij geen ondervoorzitter zou worden, om zijn opvolger Van Campen niet voor de voeten te lopen. Naast Paulusma en Wilders zijn ook Marjolein Moorman (GL-PvdA), Harmen Krul (CDA), Joost Eerdmans (JA21) en Ingrid Michon-Derkzen (VVD) benoemd tot ondervoorzitter.
