The reckoning is not going to be fun. Soul crushing is probably the right word!

An extremely rare California tornado hit Scotts Valley — just 55 miles south of San Francisco — yesterday.
While it only received an EF1 rating, the twister managed to injure four people while snapping power lines like match sticks.

A rather beautiful yet strange twister spun up near Trinidad, CO on May 28th, 2001, mere minutes after the red and yellow shades of the sunset disappeared and gave way to the cool blues captured in this peculiar picture.

Have you ever seen a winter wonderland waterspout? Earlier today, the ICWR team captured a breathtaking waterspout just south of Buffalo, hovering over the cold, frigid Adam’s ale.

It’s Thanksgiving Eve, but I have to share this snapshot of the Soso, MS EF4 that struck on Easter Sunday. One of the houses in the damage path lost its windows, walls, and roof.
But the pound cake in the glass dish went untouched. Insanity.

On March 2nd, 2012, a devastating EF4 stovepipe tore through Henryville, IN, taking 11 lives and forging a 50 mile path of pure mayhem.
I see many similarities between this and the 2024 Greenfield EF4: the strongest twister in recorded history.

One of the most photogenic tornadoes this century occurred in 2019, near Martin, SD.
Look at the length on this condensation funnel. It’s a perfect spiral, drilling topsoil into the air to create an upside down mushroom.
Nature rocks.

One of my favorite pieces of tornado media of all time was captured just 9 months ago, when two low-end twisters spun up in the evening twilight skies of rural Wisconsin.
Something about the clip below haunts me — it feels like a recurring nightmare trapped in a liminal space.
