Whoever decided to run a region-wide software update at the NWS the same day the impacted region deals with projected severe weather and legitimate potential for tornadoes needs to answer for this.

There aren’t enough NWS staffers to assess this morning’s tornado outbreak aftermath, and the SPC outlook for future severe weather is almost just as bad for tonight, tomorrow, and through the weekend.
The reckoning is not going to be fun. Soul crushing is probably the right word!

An extremely rare California tornado hit Scotts Valley — just 55 miles south of San Francisco — yesterday.
While it only received an EF1 rating, the twister managed to injure four people while snapping power lines like match sticks.

Look at the length on this condensation funnel. It’s a perfect spiral, drilling topsoil into the air to create an upside down mushroom.
