My friends bought me a doctoral sword (a replica of Andúril, the blade of Gondor) inscribed with my degree.

I will now have a sword in my office!

This week in lab we are doing metallic and ionic structures. I love relating periodic properties to the rocks I was obsessed with as a kid.

Below is the lattice model they built of fluorite compared to the actual fluorite!

Last Friday I got to talk about my research at Trinity College (some of my general chemistry students came and I was very excited). I'm looking forward to building a little research group while I'm here.

I'm Jaclyn and I'm currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Trinity College and I recently got my PhD from SUNY ESF. I use lipids and isotopes to study particulate matter and coral reefs!

@chanda.bsky.social thank you for articulating your love for physics the way I wish I could about my love for chemistry. Thank you (and your mother) for your activism and your voice. As I introduce quantum chemistry to my first year students I will be weaving in lessons I learned. 🧪#womeninSTEM

A squirrel tried to enter my classroom today (the windows don't have screens). I guess it really wanted to learn about atomic theory?
