I have not suggested that no one has editorial standards (?!); I have said that expertise is typically self-defined. There is a separate editorial level of 'who do i get on the show in the first place?' But expertise is a tricky area -- who decides? And how?

I think until you have tried to find a contributor for a topical show, with v tight turnaround, it's hard to appreciate how difficult it is. I don't disagree it is a problem, but it's kind of. feature of the system rather than a bug, and there are no easy fixes.

I straddle talent and expert contributor in my broadcast roles. In both, I have always been asked how i want to be introduced.
