Right, although I was not personally working in Godot for the project where I needed it. I ended up recording a vid, exporting as individual frames, running a batch job in Affinity Photo cutting out the corners, then putting it together again as a gif via ffmpeg

Man, I went through a similar, extremely convoluted flow to create gifs with rounded corners last year. Didn't manage to find any easy way. You might have to forge one yourself!
