Too Much Spoon

Old(er) software developer. I don't think this is a good idea at all. But I've had worse.

The future is in people, not computers.
Ah, he has hayfever. Gottit.

Has he tried a dangerous medical procedure to rid himself of it that may bring long term issues yet?... Again?

Actually started hyperventilating a little. It's really happening.

I thought the D&D set was interesting but didn't participate. I haven't played enough Final Fantasy really want that set.

But this... This I am jumping into both feet.

Both those companies involve bubbles.

Don't be so sure. Hate can keep you alive a loooooong time.

It was mine! After struggling to just browse the web with 8gb of ram.

Linux Mint was a good match with out of the box wifi support, but would have gone lighter if the distros supported the wifi adapter.

He knows what pervasive means, right? That's marketing now I guess.

Assuming they have to market something they're going to force on all its users.

God this timeline is terrible.

Well nobody's done it yet.

Unless they have and dreams are our alt selves consciousness breaking through.

Ahem, The Ritual (2017) is right there...

Management would rather spend hundreds of thousands on stupid activities, than modest pay rises or extra days leave.

Ah, she wanted to be the only one for miles to film her parasitic influence videos, didn't she?

The 'I'm a smart guy and I though AI was smart. Watch as we prove each other wrong' is the worst genre of non fiction.

Something about AI is smart enough, insidious enough to trick people into thinking it's better than employing a junior dev you can yell at.

And Welsh!

The divine language according to St Maude and that one Evil Dead movie.

The real problem is why we're having 100+ attendance meetings when they would have never thought of doing something so wasteful pre-covid.

'We want to see you as we discuss productivity and rob you collectively of about 3 weeks of working time'.

We thought we were getting Mr safe and boring in the UK in Starmer.

Guess who he threw under the bus?

Time will tell, but making all the same mistakes as the previous govt, to court the extreme right, seems to be a bipartisan policy.
August 13, 2025 at 1:49 AM
This is judt embarrassing.

AI tech bros have convinced Starmer they are essential to life, and the son of a toolmaker just wanted help putting his credit card details into Yahoo! auctions.

Do you think another bag for life would help?
August 12, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Turtles all the way down. Yup, there's always a trade off.

But thankfully for me, no lunatic is demanding Full Stack Development that bottoms out at the machine language level!
August 12, 2025 at 5:41 PM
We've had 'developerless' frameworks for a long time. They've always needed an actual developer to do more than the basics.

AI and Vibe Coding is just another low hanging fruit offered as a premium experience by con men.

But... They can still look in a dictionary? Or an encyclopedia? Or go to the library?
August 12, 2025 at 5:15 AM
You're old enough to be aware of Apple's shenanigans.

But, it is getting harder and harder to buy things for life.
August 12, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Death... AND cleaning?

Wishlisted.
