American gun owners say they should be able to own weapons of war to protect society from an oppressive government. They’re not protecting us from oppressive government so I guess the real reason is that they let hundreds of school children die so they can play with their toys.

The GOP is likely to prevail on the ACA subsidy issue. Again, only further helping blue states divest from federal responsibilities. Instead of fighting this reduction of federal spending, blue states should use it as a chance to fund state healthcare systems.

We already contribute so few funds to the fed who are busy borrowing money, that increasing taxes for state programs won’t be overly burdensome.

Pro states rights might be a better term. The GOP has already done all the work. They’ve reduced taxation to an un sustainable level. Normally, to divest from federal government, the biggest problem would be the cost of continuing federal programs while supporting new state programs.

“There are Republicans who get ACA subsidies” is not the same as “losing ACA subsidies will affect GOP elections in red states.” We could use the Senate as well as the House after the midterms but I’m sure conservative senators can count.

Trump has said, on TV, that “if we think someone is piloting a drug boat, we will kill them.” The orders to destroy boats in international waters are patently illegal.
