In terms of attacking patterns this quote from Xavi’s first training session stood out and has stayed with me. At the time I was thinking: that’s it? The plan is do whatever you want? Unfortunately there has not been a lot of evidence since then to suggest there’s much more to it.

I think he tried to address it here Hal. Not sure how accurate this Football London transcription is but the answer seems to be that they’re both being selected to provide defensive solidity until everything starts clicking. I would probably counter by saying it’s hindering that development.

This is the quote. The journalist made the comparison and TF agreed with it. As I said before it felt a bit harsh given the current system/tactics are not doing him any favours.

I thought this was an interesting quote from yesterday’s press conference, especially the bit about wanting more passing through the lines. Not sure we’ve really seen any of note yet though.

If there was ever a game of football I didn’t want to watch it’s this one:

* it will probably be a free flowing, high scoring from open play, blockbuster now that I’ve said this.

Where it gets really interesting though is when you look at the amount of rest each team has compared with their opponent in each match. So far this season Tottenham have had a total of 58 days less rest than their opponents. No other team comes close to that number. 4/6

Looking at the total days of rest before PL matches Tottenham have the fewest on 115. 6 less than United, 7 less than Chelsea and Villa, 9 less than Liverpool, and 14 and 15 less than Arsenal and City respectively. 3/6

I started looking into the actual numbers (up to the end of last weekends games) and it turns out Tottenham have played a league leading 17 of 33 matches this season on 3 days rest (2 full days between matches). Around half of them! Chelsea and Manchester United are the also up there on 16 /15. 2/6

Absolutely massive 5 fixtures incoming for @tottenhamhotspur.com, all winnable even without Romero and VdV and a chance to get the season back on track.
