I publish zines and rage against machines. I believe movements of local community gatherings can help us escape our addictions to screen heroin. Head of Community at Scalepath.

Nurturing a theory:

Self-help books largely fail because they put all the responsibility on you to do it all yourself.

When you struggle to implement their proven system, it feels like it's your fault.

This is it right here.
1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism?
Here is an answer: Good Things.
Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine.
Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it.
The more we build community, the less it can take root.

Who is offering an actual plan for how to reverse our civic unraveling?

Every day I see article after article explaining in yet another way why things are bad, yet I see so little focus on the potential solutions.

The folks at @SustainableFwd have been working on shaping a better future for media. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how important that work is.

Give them a follow and, if you are inclined, you can show support here:

I did listen to this one a bunch when practicing it for piano karaoke, but still… top 0.05%? That seems pretty impressive for such a mainstream artist.

Libraries around across the U.S. are helping people get healthier. They offer fitness classes, food pantries, cooking classes, conversations about loneliness and mental health, and even blood pressure...

There are lots of people who you can follow who are hopeless or caught in an endless cycle of doom. That’s not me.

As bad as this time is, as dangerous as it is, we’re not bugs on the windshields of history. We have agency. We just never never give up on our country. I won’t.

If you’re looking for some quality family programming to watch over the holidays, I can’t recommend Klaus (2019) enough.

I don’t begrudge people for being sad and angry and having doubts about our path forward as a country. I have felt and feel those emotions. But as flawed as our democracy is, I refuse to give up hope in it. I refuse to give up hope in America. I refuse to give up hope in my fellow Americans. 3/

Just as important, we need new strategists who are part of the communities where we need voters. We need relational organizers on the ground all year, every year. We need more data and less anecdotes based in the political persuasions/aspirations of politicians.

Don’t act like you haven’t grown up watching Star Wars and the like.

Where the rebels overcome impossible odds to thwart the bad guys in power.

You’ve been training for this all your life.

Q: Is this true?
Q: If so, how do we turn that into a resistance strategy we can each commit to?

Serious question: who is offering an optimistic vision for the future and is offering a plan for how each of us can make it real?

I see so much complaining about what is. I want to be seeing more of people working on what could be.
