Constantly bewildered. Singer-songwriter under my own name, 'High Wire Act' and 'Ashfeathers'.
Sutton Trust has a good site with all the stats and yes, stats on the media are exactly as you'd expect

I'm not sure I understand your point, sorry. Are you implying the press are therefore justified in ignoring their views? Or are you saying the press are negligent?

Yeah, I just commented the same under that thread. I don't recall the last time the news talked about people on minimum wage. But I can remember the last time they imagined a bigoted caricature of low waged people. Cos that's every day.

I pretty much never hear about the views of people on minimum wage on the news, positive or negative.

Clarkson is an entertainer and Trump a documented liar. This list demonstrably does not reflect a desire for honest straight talkers. The commonalities here look like age, ethnicity and maybe style, not honest straight talking.

...time signatures and several songs that eschew the verse chorus verse chorus format.

Or as drummer Mike Orvis puts it ‘an eclectic grungy collection of mad ideas about feelings.’"

...toxic relationships. Along the way it takes influences from a range of rock and prog adjacent bands, from Radiohead-esque chord changes, to chunky riffs that sit somewhere between Soundgarden and Coheed and Cambria. And as you’d expect from songs written by prog fans, there are a host of weird...

Oh but I have also come to the conclusion that doing good light entertainment, like the better Marvel films, is very difficult. Stuff that's just fun doesn't get the kudos it deserves.

Yes, that's what I read/heard on podcasts. Another element was that this faction had a playbook that worked in the 50s/60s where you make deals with industry, but it doesn't work now cos the world is different (see their attempts at deals with AI companies).

Dunno about you, but younger me also had lower standards...

Everyone I read talking about this from a left Labour pov said that these people have no ideas or aims outside of factional infighting. Their aim is to keep the left of Labour away from power in the Labour party. They don't care about anything else. Thought it was hyperbole but I guess not.

I know terms like 'secure the borders' and 'control immigration' are just code words for 'get rid of foreigners' so taking them literally is missing the point, but still it annoys me
November 17, 2025 at 2:19 PM
And also just so stupid. Deciding that refugees can stay and send their kids to school *is* controlling the borders!

Or is the allegation that someone can somehow enrol their children in a state school against the will of the state?

They're fucking morons
