31st of March sees the close of the winter bird surveying season and in 15c conditions, it couldn’t have felt any less wintery up in Fraserburgh today.
A wonderful mix of farmland birds, waders and wildfowl, including a flyover of 12 Golden Plover. Also to note, Sycamore breaking leaf already!!!

A male Bullfinch above the feed station earlier today! One of the females is now confident coming onto the sunflower heart tubes. Whereas the males are still quite content to pick at the wispy tips of the Rowan tree, where the berries hung before December.

This big Beech took some shifting! One of many trees, that succumbed to storm Eowyn. Thank you to the local farm guys for restoring access along the road #stormeowyn

Starlings spooked and on high alert after a Peregrine stooped on something I couldn’t see. But the whoosh made me look up, to watch it then gaining height after not being successful. #birds #biggardenbirdwatch #nature

After the icy grips of winter last week, in complete contrast it would now appear to be mild enough for some Bees to become active again. This one pausing momentarily in the sun, on the handle of the chainsaw #nature
