We need dedicated funding for maintaining & supporting public health infrastructure & pipelines. Not just startup, not just in pandemics.

Excited to announce the start of ARTIC2! 🎉

ARTIC2 builds on the success of ARTIC aiming to make sequencing more equitable and accessible. 🤝🧬

EVE Group at @swisstph.ch is a key team member - we'll be helping make sequences easier to store and share via Loculus & @pathoplexus.org ! 🌎

Lovely to be here in The Gambia - have had a fantastic couple of days doing training already with the ARTIC project; now for some discussions around public health genomics and cloud computing. Very pleased to have been able to help organise this and help set the scene this morning.
In collaboration with CLIMB BIG DATA & @articnetwork.bsky.social, we are hosting the 2-day 'Cloud Computing in Africa conference under the theme: Building Sustainable Digital Infrastructure for Pathogen Genomics,' to better understand and improve population health and health care systems in #Africa.

Pandemics need to be killed in the cradle. Even though we don’t know if these mutations make H5N1 a pandemic virus, we know they raise the potential risk. Eliminating viruses with human adaptive mutations and preventing further adaptation should be the absolute top priority.
