It’s obvious the incentive scheme won’t keep Musk focused on Tesla.
Even with the largest incentive award possible the Tesla board know they aren’t a) getting Musk 100% focused on work b) getting 100% of his work activity focused on Tesla.
Still, Tesla shareholders approved it, therefore it is right

Presumably Vanguard & BlackRock are also sizeable shareholders in ITV too. Always interested in these cases where passive managers are on both sides of a takeover. How do they decide how to vote (assuming there is one)?

I really enjoyed reading that at the time. But it’s also a reminder that many ppl on the Labour Right who call themselves ‘social democrats’ (seemingly because it sounds more moderate than ‘socialist’) are actually well out of step even with social democracy’s tradition.

So there’s a reasonable position that is: “I think a wealth tax could be implemented and raise revenue. There would be trade-offs but on balance the case is positive.”
think this is what most sensible proponents say?
I’m not even personally convinced. Just think some anti arguments are disingenuous

Surely you could believe:
The government does not share assumptions about feasibility or revenue raising potential (rightly or wrongly).
Or/and
The government has different views on political / economic trade-offs.
“You must invent conspiracies to disagree with the government” is quite extreme!

I don’t think I have underlined the point?
Wealth taxes that exist *are progressive* as taxing billionaires more would be.
It might be the case that it yields less than expected, but still progressive.
Also it could make it *easier* to raise taxes elsewhere if people see the very rich paying more.

“It's hugely damaging to the leigitimacy of actual progressive tax”
This suggests you think taxing billionaires isn’t progressive…
