Labour and Capital: stewardship, responsible investment, labour rights, unions, pensions, corporate governance, workforce engagement
Look at the ordering of concerns: markets > allies > the public

The current Labour leadership has outsourced its priorities to the ‘marktvolk’ that Wolfgang Streeck talked about

Obviously different things, but if we’re in the business of saying it’s not progressive for UK punters to be paying debt to US hedge funds…

Huh, a UK unit of BlackRock has a short position in ITV. Shares up 15% this morning.
Also a reminder that this level of info won’t be available to ordinary mortals in future under the proposals now out for consultation.
It’s anti growth to be able to see it.

I honestly think they spend *too much* time thinking about this

All you need to do to get one past the government is work in finance and invoke economic growth

Another straw in the wind. Lib Dems win council seat off Labour despite support falling as Left vote deserts Labour - the independent here is Left.
Brum bin strike a factor here too

Labour has just reversed the Conservative policy of maintaining a public register of high shareholder votes against executive pay (and other resolutions)

It’s not pro-growth to highlight opposition to executive pay presumably

Right-wing policy wonk retweeting a union event to have a dig at Net Zero.

Huh, this bit looks like it might be influenced by a Taxpayer’s Alliance briefing

Elsewhere they say the Greens are also “Marxist” whilst the Lib Dems are “socialist” (as are Labour, SNP and Plaid). The Corbyn/Sultana mob has “Marxist ideologies but also Bolshevik tendencies”.

This is, frankly, hilarious. The Resolution Foundation is “unapologetically Marxist”.

Some running nerdery. Strava and Garmin give me wildly different race predictions. Strava not bad (bit too generous at shorter distances) but Garmin is far too slow & bizarrely these have not changed even though it has recorded me running a lot faster.

This is quite an explicitly political piece for an asset manager to publish… (scroll past the war stuff)
