My face when I realize I'm looking at a mecha wrong.

MGS3 was an expensive game that broke the hardware past it's limits. It was too much at its time. Excessive in it's excesses.
To truly (re)make a game in that style not only requires that expenditure but to exceed it. It has to wasteful, inefficient, and painful. Painted in blood. Something must die

I'm sure people worked hard (were over worked, even) to make this and that they did not have the creative control they wished and that cost conscious executives sabotaged the project, and it was made despite their 'contributions'.

But this Sin was not what they did, but that it was cheap.

AAA(A) is about showing how much you spent. If the assets look interchangeable then it's not high fidelity, it's an asset flip.

To make AAAAA, to charge $100, you spend a billion dollars on it. The whole world needs to work on it, the advertising must be inescapable. Its defined by its cost.

Actually, I would say its the most important thing.

Gen Z when you mention Bill Clinton.

While there is in fact a hole in my heart, I don't want newtypless gundam. I want pilots who read the manual (to be fair, this is actually what new types are. That is my fan theory and I'm sticking to it).

I yearn for the next stage of human evolution (that read the documentation).

I yearn for the simpler times when it was all about real robot and the only romance was the chaste will-they-won't-they between a mech-obsessed pilot, a very normal person (who, let's be honest, could do better), and the mecha of the former affections.

I did not have Dark Messiah till 2010. but I did have some bangers. Deus Ex remains a foundational influence on what I think about games. Zeno Clash was an important moment in first person melee combat. lots of good stuff.

I don't like words like 'favorite' and 'best' because they are difficult to define and my opinions tend to be mercurial. But it certainly got me to think of games that I think are interesting or influential to me that I otherwise might not mention.

So I went on a Big Dam Adventure last weekend (with my friend).

We saw 3 different dams (one was closed for renovation) in the North Cascade mountains of Washington State

"Steam queue. No reviews. Live on twitch. Friendslop by Truffoni. Vertical slice of game play with friends all over it, just full of randos. Makes the game so much more fun. After doing daylies play some friendslop by Truffoni? They say 'no freindslop' but they can't stop you adding multiplayer."

I mean that would technically be a breathtaking experience to redefine WW2.

Although I'm not sure WW2 ever needed redefinition or wasn't already a breathtaking experience.

Oh, I just use Patlabor as my coping mechanism.

I'm not saying there weren't exceptions and good art direction was always compromised.

But there was a lot of ww2 and gwot shooters. There was a lot of bloom, grey and brown. I'm talking about the trend. There are always outliers, but it very common.

Even Zelda got in on the bloom.

There is something really personal and visceral about dreams and things you don't like. It's like a weird part of you that is kind of outside your control. Part of me wants to put this into a game as an idiosyncrasy.

Also I'm allergic to shellfish.

I think this was a new dream too. Sometimes I have dreams and like they seem familiar, like I had them before but I remember it the last time. Or something.

I found these picture of an owl eating crayfish and that's helping me.

I greatly dislike bugs in my house and I saw a new bug recently so this might have something to do with that.

I didn't like the crayfish bugs. They were dull grey and tried to protect themselves from being smashed. They were big, or at least the size of a normal crayfish (maybe a little smaller).
June 23, 2025 at 7:31 AM
I had a dream that there were crayfish that were acting like bugs and scurrying around a living room, hiding between the furniture. People tried to convince me crayfish always were like this and acted this way.

I sternly refused and told them this was a new development. They reluctantly agreed.

I think it's important to realize wage growth has been fairly stagnant especially for lower class Americans. It makes me wonder who are videogames for?

(Also check out Libre Quake, because Quake is for everyone)

While I really enjoyed 'Level With Me' when it was running and I would love to see it return; I should probably just move on.
June 15, 2025 at 9:46 PM
Oh yeah this reminds me of the fish ladders. A lot of dams (and the locks) have em. They also have lots of cables and cement on them so you'd probably like them.

(Also look at that cool 'lighting fixture' in the last image!)
