Current status.

Business trip to Slough, UK (just west of London, not a location that makes the heart beat faster, generally).

Popped out for dinner, found a Japanese restaurant. Ordered sashimi and sake, then katsu and biru.

Balance restored.

You can keep your Japanese bamboo forest pics from Arashiyama.

This is the start of the High Peak Trail just outside Cromford, Peak District, UK.

Suggestive rock formation on Kinder Scout, Peak District, UK

What does it remind me of?

- mushroom cap?
- aerodynamic cycle helmet?

Or something else?

That reminds me of this excellent meal in Colmar.

Being France, it wasn’t a pie but a mustard sauce.

Got a set of de-alcoholised Noughty wines from Thomson & Scott to try.

TBH, I've had very few that are worth it, so going in with modest expectations - anyone tried these? Got other recommendations?

Lamb burgers this evening, so I’ve done a tabbouleh with mint as a side.

Matching with a youngish Left Bank Bordeaux - 2022 Medoc, Cru Bourgeois and Paris Gold.

Absolute scenes at the dinner table as I bring out an Argentinian Pet Nat for review.

#1 child and Mrs L oohing and aahing, while I furiously scribble a tasting note before it’s all gone.

Verdict: complex, savoury and floral with white stone fruits. More like a wheat beer.

Don't know that one but it reminds me of an astonishing Deiss Nature I tasted years ago - a "natural wine", can still remember its strange mixture of linear acidity and oxidative tang.
