Incredibly excited that Governor Newsom signed AB566 -- the California Opt Me Out Act - that would enable consumers to exercise do not sell/share privacy requests at scale. @calprivacy.bsky.social sponsored this bill and is a great complement to the California Delete Act.

Great news! Governor Newsom has signed The CA Opt Me Out Act (AB 566, Lowenthal). This bill, sponsored by the CPPA, will make it easier for Californians to protect their privacy by requiring browsers to offer opt-out preference signals. It goes into effect Jan. 1, 2027.

At today’s meeting, the CPPA Board unanimously voted to adopt a proposed rulemaking package on ADMT, cybersecurity audits, risk assessments, insurance, and CCPA updates. Now, the proposed regulations will be filed with the Office of Administrative Law.
