The UK Online Safety Act may be designed to stop kids looking at porn but it's written to stop anyone viewing anything that might be adult in any way without ID, and I wish they'd polled on that, rather than how the government wants to frame it

UK’s Online Safety Act is putting YOUR privacy at risk. Uploading ID or scanning your face to access gaming or messaging? It won’t stop harm - it creates new risks of identity theft, surveillance & weaker encryption. @eff.org + @openrightsgroup.bsky.social need to keep holding UK gov accountable.

I know people are mooting this as an alternative for wired Ethernet but… user devices generally outpace router adoption and users still struggle to get solid connections even back to WiFi 5 standards.
