I’m not “Pro-Autry.” I don’t think he’s doing a very good job. He’s trying, but the results just aren’t there. That said, he’s going to get next year. Things will have to markedly improve for him to stay beyond that, but they’re not going to let him go now.

With SU basketball starting today, I don’t really have a prediction as to how the season is going to go. I do think that it really has to be tourney or bust for Autry. There’s no sense keeping him around if he can’t do that with this roster.

It’s not all his fault, but Fran is proving he’s not quite ready for a real big job. I know it’s hard to recruit depth, especially at QB, at a place like SU, but you can’t have your season completely crater because you lose one guy.

If a couple more coaches that are targets for these big openings get extensions announced by their current schools soon, I’ll really start worrying that Fran is going to leave. Right now I’m at like 70/30 he stays at SU at least thru next year.

I didn’t watch any of SU’s exhibition game last night, but from reading about it, I’m still really disappointed Red didn’t make any changes to his coaching staff in the off-season. The current staff isn’t good enough, and Red should act like he’s coaching for his job this year.
