There is speculation that's why the last few were officially done by "special forces" - because the regular chain of command refused.

Ah yes the old judo trick of using "prove you're not a robot" tests being used to train better robots.

I've always mentally linked it with "billet" in the military sense, meaning "a place where you sleep". Billet refers more to the room in general, or your little virtual cube of a shared dormitory (i.e. including cupboard, locker, etc), but in your billet you might have a pallet to sleep on.

I really like pilates as an exercise. My one gripe is it takes a bit longer than I'd like - low on the calories/min front. But as a supplement to rowing I think it's great :-)
I have been experimenting with ye olde Dynamic Tension as I go about my day. It's surprisingly effective.

The game is released! Very cool that the controls are just two buttons - a Morse key, and "fire the guns!"

True. I have a limited number of sprites on a single line, but I don't (yet!) have to multiplex them vertically - at least not the way you're talking about.
If I did, I think putting a bubble-sort as the very first thing would work fine, and then I could use it for this. Good point.

I did a bunch of experiments and profiling and wrote it up over on Mastodon (which is much better at lengthy technical discussions):

Writing a 2D scrolling shoot-em-up, and the bullet-vs-baddy collision is proving surprisingly expensive, since it's an N*M test.
Considering adding the baddies pointers to a grid a...

I think John was only involved in the first one? The rest were mainly done by his wife (she was CEO of the dev company). I remember him talking about them and yeah the phones at the time had some awful limits, but they were still pretty fun within those restrictions.

This is the problem. The best time to make mead was a year ago. This is the 21st century - ain't nobody got time for planning and forethought!
