this is your occasional reminder that every elite media outlet and editor that spent the last 5 years pretending Republicans were the free speech party is either a moron or a fascist and either way you should treat their every utterance with contempt

I took myself off the big social media platforms a few months ago for a few reasons.

A big reason I have stayed off it is this administration's eagerness to use it to target private citizens for harassment.

Brand-new polling from YouGov out this AM finds Trump's actions re: LA underwater. Double-digit disapproval on sending in Marines.

This should be a reality check for those people arguing the protests inherently help Trump bc his immigration approval # is positive.

Recall how this started:

1. DOJ lawyers make outrageous argument that citizens aren't citizens

2. Federal judge rightly calls that "blatantly unconstitutional"

3. Law professor calls judge's remarks "highly embarrassing"

Why should I assume "good faith" on the last part? It's plainly bad faith.
Assuming good faith regarding arguments on legal questions currently in the public domain is especially important for lawyers and law profs. And while some posts I've seen do this, I'm again dismayed by how many rely on personal and emotional attacks.

"and we deem it unjustifiable to call them concentration camps, with all the ugly connotations that term implies -- we are dealing specifically with nothing but an exclusion order."

“I have received some guidance to avoid terms, like ‘camps,’ that can be twisted and used against the president, yes,” says one close Trump ally. “Apparently some people think it makes us look like Nazis.”
