Hiding in the garage eating ice cream. #SuburbanDadLife.

Wow. Toby's Estate have really outdone themselves with the Christmas packaging this year.
December 5, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Comforting feeling when you are packing up your things to move and this is the only label you can think of for one of the boxes.
December 4, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Right, that's enough. I'm going home to polish my baubles

Ah yes, 15 generically dressed and scented young men are going to have wild success in here where there are another 45 generically dressed and scented young gentlemen.

Look, I assume they're looking for each other because I'm not sure there's another explanation.

Should a security company see l providing doormen to very low risk local pubs really be called Vanquish?!

I mean it was a bit gauche even for Aston Martin FFS

Watching various flavours of 'yes, your boyfriend's thoughts are enhancing and significant to critical theory' theatre play out in front of me.

I have decided that the main actor is wildly French. She's being painfully nice about it. He's rather obviously a bit of a chump.

Sweet jeebus, I could swear that was Mark Almond that just walked through but y' know he'd have had to have been born in about 2003. Actually it might be Pee Wee Herman. Always struggled with the difference between the two...

Next up is a personal highlight. Bucketty's. Nowhere else on the beaches am I likely to get a blonde ale on a hand pull.

It's light, lightly funky fermentation character and it's neither too cold or too fizzy. Might be here a while...

Aaarghh!! Unexpected caraway seeds in the pretzels. Now I need a dunkzelweizen and a salt beef bagel with hot sour mustard.
November 28, 2025 at 10:16 AM
And round the corner to Dad and Dave's. Beer choice is the Schwarzbier which might seem odd for a brewery that made it with a pale ale. This is a smooth clean roasty dark lager. Pleasingly dry.

Also a pleasingly middle aged band and audience...
November 28, 2025 at 10:01 AM
And again the band are terrific. I've been harsh on this place before but I'm still unlikely to try the Helles particularly after this pale. Might put a pin in it and come back to give that a go.
November 28, 2025 at 9:38 AM
And on to seventh day w Hick is a real local favourite though I can't quite tell why other than 'there's pizza'. Beer choice is always tough here. They've got a lot better but often not quite to the standard of places a very short walk away.

And I'll be dipped in dogshit if that's an actual pint.
November 28, 2025 at 9:32 AM
There's a lot of great live music acts playing at these places but oh my goodness they are making me feel old...

...but just maybe that's because...

...

...

Oh

Shit.

The grooming and sartorial mistakes of early seventies Australia are having a baffling resurgence in Brookvale. I guess it's my fault for going out to breweries and distilleries. Honestly though the mullet 'teacher combo is not great...

...and then there's the men.
November 28, 2025 at 9:01 AM
On to Freshwater brewing and their consistently drinkable "Brookie Black" porter served on nitro. Don't care about authentic serving when the result is a sinkable savoury delight with a nice touch of berry fruit character to it. It's a bit like a Nordic style filter coffee with teeny tiny bubbles.

As is now traditional I am "at the staff Christmas party" which I have begun at Goodradigbee distillery. This time I have begun with the Bluegum whisky which is really strong but utterly delicious. I am going to have to leave quickly or I suspect I will have too many.

Adrian Edmondson's ascent info broad spectrum (sci-fi) villain is a thing of raw delight for me
September 25, 2025 at 11:53 AM
They don't say whose head or whose butt though...
September 16, 2025 at 11:32 AM
Yeah, I didn't buy that as a dog shelf really...
September 7, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Why, why did you make a floury ghost koala?!
August 28, 2025 at 9:05 AM
[chaotic strings fade]
July 5, 2025 at 5:48 AM
Made the mistake of watching Hypernormalisation again and now I'm questioning everything

That may not be bad
June 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Ah, I see you have worn Ugg boots into the outside world. Perhaps you have made a mistake or are meant to be in hospital, potentially a secure ward...?
