and my job's going... okay? there was a surprising shift in circumstances, but that's worked out fine. i submitted a paper based on my phd thesis work to a major PL conference. in the next few months i hope to start making progress on a new direction

and ... i did move to a new country, that did happen, it took me a long time to stop freaking out about it, and now i'm just kinda chillin', but I still don't speak the local language at all, and I haven't really found much here to enjoy or really enrich myself.

well uh this was pretty optimistic about writing. i DID write a lot for my web serial, but i definitely didn't finish and i scarcely touched the other project at all. i'm still pretty happy with the amount of writing progress.

the second tab didn't really close, it just disappeared because the tabs overflowed the horizontal space available

this leaves the question of why closing a tab would mean that the browser could fit fewer tabs in the bar, but it's not a hard-to-conceive glitch
