If I haven't missed something I think the first house now has everything and is ready for polishing and detailing

But first I need to get the second house and then the rest to the same level
January 13, 2025 at 5:51 PM
Been working on this house for an environment, getting there!

Once this house is done I will jump over to the second house and then it's time to ground everything in the environment

Let's look at them side by side, the left model is at 856 triangles which might not sound like a lot but it quickly adds up, and the right one is at 278 triangles however from looking at them they still look very similar and holds the shape of the asset very well.
October 18, 2024 at 8:14 AM
Here we have thought about the placement of our quads and triangles and have also thought about the silhouette being the most important, and we have also used triangles which has helped us reduce a lot.
October 18, 2024 at 8:14 AM
Here's the first example of a mesh I created where it is overly dense and not well planned at all, it also only contains quads
October 18, 2024 at 8:13 AM
Let's take a look at the screen of the TV and how we can optimize it properly, here you can see the high poly and low poly (Yellow is High, Green is Low)
October 18, 2024 at 8:13 AM
So how do we know what can be baked down vs what needs to be built in to the mesh?
Well this is tricky because it depends on what purpose the asset has and how close to the asset we are going to get.
Here's an example of details that can be baked down

Reposting my retopo thread here on bluesky:

So I see a lot of questions regarding hard surface retopology or low poly for game art and I felt like I might be able to help a bit and explain some things as well as give some simple examples

Some small progress on my current little scene, got some RVT set up and figured out how to actually increase the resolution of landscapes in Unreal (the documentation doesnt explain it)
