Creighton is the 32nd most valuable hoops program in America based on enterprise value, according to today's Wall Street Journal.

30 years ago this would be preposterous! I know I say it too much, but it's because I'm so proud of how my school has grown.

Ok, these are great. They’re not true “throwbacks” since they’re not recreations of an old design; they’re arguably something better. A modern take on retro design elements. My designer heart is in love with these!

If Creighton does in fact unveil 70s throwbacks tomorrow, here’s what that might look like. Dug out a couple of rare color pics of them from that “interlocking CU” era from my Bluejay library.

Posted on the Creighton Twitter account a little while ago (sharing for those of you who’ve left that site).

That’s the Apke-era logo from the 70s. Has to be a teaser for new throwback unis, doesn’t it? Excited to find out tomorrow 👀

Before the Jays and Blue Demons tip off tonight, check out the Primer presented by @OmahaDouglasFCU! DePaul has some nice offensive weapons, especially from three-point range. But their record is what it is partially because their defense has been…rough.

I missed this news earlier this week, but this is a great change. "Secret" scrimmages -- and the hunt to learn what you could, then figuring out (as a CBB writer) how to hint at what happened for your readers without actually saying it -- are a thing of the past.

Creighton's opponent tonight, Providence, has been surging of late. WBR's Primer presented by @OmahaDouglasFCU dives into how the Friars have done it:

IMHO the key tonight for Creighton against Georgetown: the Jays have to be better on the glass and in taking care of the ball than they were at Alabama. Giving up that many "extra possession" points again will make it tough to get the win. More in the Primer:

At the season's 1/3 point, I decided to give Creighton the "Primer" treatment and do a deep-dive into the trends and stats defining their season so far. From Ashworth and Kalkbrenner's excellence to Miller's struggles and everything in between:

Who's Overperforming or Underperforming for the Jays? A Statistical Deep-Dive at the Season's One-Third Mark - White and Blue Review
Heading into the start of Big East play on Wednesday night, Creighton has completed roughly 1/3 of the regular season. That’s enough games to start to see some trends emerging, so let’s take stock of....

ICYMI, I wrote about Jamiya Neal's 19 point, nine rebound, nine assist performance on Saturday in WBR's Morning After -- including these *tremendously* confident soundbites from the postgame radio show:

When I was a frosh at Creighton in 1997, the idea of hosting a #1 team -- much less beating one -- was preposterous. Now it's happened twice in 10 months. It left me speechless last night.

It didn't last 😅. A giant Morning After recaps the win over Kansas:

Morning After: Rock Chalk Can’t Beat Kalk, Creighton Topples #1 Kansas 76-63 - White and Blue Review

To me, transition buckets are the key tonight for Creighton vs Kansas; they need to rebound and get out in the open court, and they need to avoid live ball turnovers so KU has fewer of the same chances. More in the Primer over on WBR:

As calculated by WBR's Matt DeMarinis, through six games (or roughly 20% of the season) these are the Jays' numbers on what Synergy classifies as "unguarded" threes:

UTRGV: 3-7
FDU: 6-12
HCU: 3-14
KC: 2-11
UNL: 4-22
SDSU: 1-10
19-of-76, or 25%.

“I hope we shoot our way out of it. That's what this team was built on." That's Greg McDermott after the Jays' shooting woes continued yesterday. More on that in my recap on WBR:

Per John Bishop on the pregame show: Creighton is still trying to determine whether Steven Ashworth's ankle is a grade two or grade three sprain; he noted the ankle was very bruised when he saw it at practice yesterday.

The hope is that he might be back for Kansas next week.

Steven Ashworth got some work in at shootaround prior to today's game, according to the OWH's Jon Walker. Status is still up in the air, but he looks pretty good in this clip:

Our four-year old was so excited for Creighton's first game this week that he drew this picture, which is simply fantastic. As he described it, it's a picture of "Steven" throwing the ball to the "Tall Guy" for a slam dunk while mom, dad and him yell "Go Bluejays." Gotta love it.
