I just finished reading this most excellent but painful book about the meteoric rise of stand-up comedy in the 1970s, and how one horrible creature almost single-handedly destroyed the entire scene. Steve Lubetkin should still be with us; Mitzi Shore took far too long to die.

We held my mother's funeral today. It was good to see a lot of friends and family who have been absent from our lives for too long, and to finally meet some of her church friends she spoke of so fondly. 84 years was a good run.

We spent yesterday in Avalon on Catalina Island. It was Nick's first time there, and Olivia's first-ever trip to any island. The weather was perfect.

Today was Nick's 25th birthday. We had a great dinner at home and then took him and his fiancee, Olivia, to the Redlands Public Market. Olivia baked him her very first cake, and it was good! Happy birthday to a wonderful young man. ❤️

Nick wanted to go to The Dirty Show at the Ontario Improv for his 25th birthday. The Dirty Show lives up to its name, and then some. And then we ended up dead front and center, two feet from the mic stand. This could get colorful.

We visited the Titan arum (amorphophallus) flower at the Como Zoo Conservatory in Minnesota. The big bloom had happened a couple of days prior so it wasn't quite so stinky, but enough!
