Today I took my neighbor in to renew her license. Thirty seconds after we got to the window, the ENTIRE California DMV computer system crashed. It did the same thing yesterday and was out for over two hours. We waited about ninety minutes and finally decided to reschedule. 🤬🙄

I just finished reading this most excellent but painful book about the meteoric rise of stand-up comedy in the 1970s, and how one horrible creature almost single-handedly destroyed the entire scene. Steve Lubetkin should still be with us; Mitzi Shore took far too long to die.

We held my mother's funeral today. It was good to see a lot of friends and family who have been absent from our lives for too long, and to finally meet some of her church friends she spoke of so fondly. 84 years was a good run.

I'm not sure why Riverside National Cemetery has decided to only do burials before noon, but they've thrown yet another wrench in the works for my mother's funeral. 😡

I just love it when I spend an entire week following the obnoxious paper trail of my mother's estate, then get a letter saying the life insurance policy she paid off long ago is no longer in force. 🙄

I haven't heard anything from anyone about a 40th-year reunion for my high school class this year. And I'm fine with that because I already communicate regularly with the handful of people I still care about. I come from a shitty MAGA community anyway.
