I’m not sure where I made a blanket assertion that everyone spends that. I did not. The author of the article did not. But that is the average according to the article.

I don’t think anyone is saying that is a global poverty level.
If you look at the numbers for the us. 32,000 for c childcare? 18-20000 for health care. 24000 for housing. All before taxes. I strongly suspect those numbers are also wildly out of line with costs elsewhere.

There is a real world test of this right now to show he’s on the right track. The ACA subsidies were extended to cover folks at 400% of the poverty line. An admission that the poverty line is too low. Just wait until premiums without extended subsidies actually hit in January.

20-30 per line only when you have 3+ lines. T mobile’s cheapest single line contract is &60/month before an extra $15+ off fees and taxes.
There are cheaper plans from resellers but the vast majority of people buy from tmo, vzn or att.

I’m old enough to have been a blockbuster customer. I’m not so sure net value has increased over the past 20 years.
I’ve got about a hundred a month going to streaming services. A hundred going to the isp. My cell phone bill is 4x my old landline.
