Real life [electrical] engineer and pop culture geek. Leftist, feminist, and atheist.

Let's be real; the actions of the GOP don't have the goals for gutting healthcare and cutting taxes for billionaires. Those are just happy bonuses. The goal is to entrench GOP power and crown Trump (or someone else the capital class can control) dictator for life.

Confirmation that UK fascists are just as cowardly as US fascists.

Trump is playing into the hands of BRICS. The more he tries to use the US economic might to intimidate other countries, the more likely countries will be to change the reserve currency.

This is exactly the rhetoric that will cause members of the public to be okay with the administration rounding up political opponents.

This has been an endless cycle. Dems always blame the left for their loss even when they run the most boring centrist/right of center candidate. Obama won in 2008 on progressive policy positions, then promptly sprinted to the center after getting elected. His turn helped radicalize me.

Umm...Wernher Von Braun was a German import.

You're supporting a claim with 8 year old data and accusing me of confirmation bias? Do you think those ad hominems are supporting your claim? The academics I know don't act like that. Don't let the gray fool you; I'm a millennial. If that is middle-aged then I guess I'm middle aged.

You're projecting now. You're graph clearly says the data is from 2016 (AND it compares to Romney whom didn't run in 2024) and you're trying real hard to sooth your cognitive dissonance.

You have .mit.edu in your ID; how do you not see you're using out of date data?
May 30, 2025 at 2:00 AM
🤣🤣🤣 Did you even vette what you posted? It lists its source as "Data: American National Election Survey 2016". Wow! That's gotta be embarrassing.

I wasn't going to mention this before, but using the alternating caps/lower case is abelist AF. It's from a meme laughing at differently abled people.

A) These graphs are using data from 2016 and aren't relevant to 2024.

B) These graphs are terrible at presenting the data contained within them.

C) Holy error bars, Batman! We can't draw any real conclusion with that much error.

Agreed, but my point is that 401k investments are "set them and forget". A strong stock market affects the future for (most) 401k investors; not right now. Most Americans are more directly affected by housing, grocery, and wages. Not directly affected by stock performance.
May 29, 2025 at 9:56 PM
Less than 50% of the US population owns stock and of that 50% most own mutual funds in a 401k. The stock market IS NOT the economy. Dems need to be talking about building an economy that benefits the working class.
May 29, 2025 at 8:24 PM
The narrative that Kamala/Dems lost on identity politics is a flawed premise IMO. Economic concerns were chief among all other issues. Trump spoke to the "high price of eggs" while Dems pointed to a rising stock market and dismissed economic anxiety.

If not corruption why corruption shaped?

"Why does the government punish small businesses?"

Votes for a party protecting corporate monopolies.

The speed at which Amazon/Bezos folded to white house pressure made me sick.
May 2, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Agreed.
May 2, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Bad news for the party in power. Dems should oppose the whole way. Let the government shut down due to Republican inaction if necessary.
May 2, 2025 at 2:59 PM
This will be challenged in the courts. Congress holds the purse strings, and the President can't can't just decide that Congressional appropriation no longer applies. Clearly unconstitutional.
