Mostly free speech and democratic backsliding. Also Syracuse politics and Baltimore sports.
No idea, but KBJ makes it sound like it’ll be no more than a couple days. At which point the administration will then have 48 hours to bring it back to SCOTUS. At which point, G-d help us

BREAKING: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issues an administrative stay in the SNAP benefits case, for the First Circuit to issue its ruling on the stay request (“with dispatch”).

Her administrative stay ends 48 hours after that ruling is issued (or upon further order).

How many consecutive Trump administration requests for emergency relief has the Court granted, and will this one break the streak?

Hadn’t read this one in a few years. This time I did it mostly on the Pete Cross audio book, which I highly recommend. I feel like I can make sense of Melville’s prose better by listening than by reading? Loved it as always, and the end is so intense

They go in seniority order (so Thomas first), but then anyone can interrupt with follow-ups whenever they want. Since the gov't lawyer is up first, Alito and Thomas don't have as much to say. When challenger is up, Alito will question incessantly

Justices have long been opposed to it (largely to preserve their anonymity in public life), but some of the younger ones have signaled some potential openness to it, IIRC. But would require a major policy shift by the Court

You got the full lyrics written out anywhere?

Slow, then fast. Local Dems, especially young ones, have been building towards this since 2017. But no one thought it would happen this year

This is a) true but b) erasure of the Dem candidates’ field operation. We won all 5 contested seats! As AOC said in 2018, respect the hustle
